ABOUT NICHOLAS

Thanks for taking an interest. A brief bio is presented below. However, what's most important to know is that I strongly believe in the vital role of universities in society and am passionate about delivering great socio-economic benefits. I hope like-minded people will find great value in The University Imperative.

Nicholas co-founded a multi-million dollar ASX-listed venture fund after spending a decade advising leading Australian and international corporations on strategic acquisitions, divestments and growth strategies. He assembled a portfolio of successful, innovation-rich businesses. He then strategically restructured the fund, leading to a significant deal with an international organisation and its migration to an international stock exchange listing.

With his solid foundation in the investment and commercial sectors, Nicholas then led innovation and commercialisation offices at major Australian universities. His practical approach and ability to bridge the gap between academia and business enabled him to identify and implement strategic drivers for university innovation and commercial enterprise agendas. By applying the principles detailed in The University Imperative, he navigated complex organisational structures and expanded the ways to derive great societal outcomes from university assets and partnerships. He oversaw a six-fold decadal growth in commercial revenues (double the sector's growth rate) and the involvement of over two-thirds of research-active staff in partnerships that derive immense societal outcomes.

In the The University Imperative, Nicholas draws on his extensive experience and deep understanding of the knowledge-capital value chain, from idea generation to achieving positive societal outcomes through collaboration with others.

The frameworks outlined in The University Imperative will help your organisation make a positive impact on our world
